AKNL makes additional recommendations to the minister of finance
Because the Covid and lock-down crisis had set itself in between the time of preliminary consultations and the initial debates at the assembly, the order of priorities changed and AKNL justly set them again.
– Since the hospitality industry was already striving to keep a satisfactory occupation rate in the past years, the post Covid can only be fairly disastrous. A freeze of all new hotel projects on Pas géométriques land (belt of state-land following the coast contours) becomes a necessity.
– In the same line of thought, the set up of a National Tourism and Coastal Land Audit Commission seems necessary since the foreseen economic contribution of the hotel and tourism industry can no more justify the amount of coastal land it withholds. The re-proclamation of Pomponette as a public beach becomes inevitable.
– AKNL also reinstated its recommendation that public consultations take place within the elaboration of the National Development Strategy. (Adopted suggestion).
